ACHE-Intervention
The project ACHE-Intervention seeks to demonstrate how potential improvements in medical and nursing pain management can be transferred into real-life ambulatory care and the effects of these interventions will be assessed. The target population is people aged ≥65 years with a certified need of care, who suffer from persistent pain and receive care services in their homes in Berlin. ACHE-Intervention is a cluster-randomized intervention study with two intervention arms and one control group. Both interdisciplinary interventions (“eHealth-supported individual intervention” and “digital training intervention”) are designed as complex interventions, which will be implemented in cooperation with ambulatory care service providers. The data will be analysed longitudinally and the reduction in pain intensity is defined as primary outcome. Secondary outcomes are decrease in pain-related consequences and the proportion of participants reaching an appropriate level of pain medication and pain management nursing care. Additionally, future costs associated with the broad implementation of the interventions will be estimated and a multi-disciplinary guide for physicians, nurses and family members will be created.
