StudiMeter

Student survey regarding stress and resources in their studies

You are here:

Hintergrund zur Studie

The project StudiMeter aims to create a database about students at medical faculties of different universities focusing on their level of stress, stressors, and resources. A longitudinal online survey will be designed and implemented for 5 years at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg.

The longitudinal design enables us to identify trends in stress or resource availability over the course of their studies. Particularly stressful study phases can be detected and countered by tailored interventions. Additionally, the design allows for analyses of cohort effects contrasting the same semester across registers. Thereby, impacts of digital teaching or pandemic stressors can be compared just as well as the new Medical Licensure Act. Lastly, study implementation at two universities enables comparisons between the model medical study programmme (Charité) and the conventional medical study programme (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg) as well as comparisons between other study programmes offered by medical faculties (e.g., care or midwife studies). Thus, systemic stressors and resources resulting from different organisational circumstances can be contrasted and best practices can be identified.
