Aim
The Institute of Medical Sociology and Rehabilitation Science of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, in cooperation with the Centre for Quality in Care (ZQP) and supported by the German Care Association (DPV), conducts a survey among professional nursing staff. Using an online questionnaire, we investigate requirements, potentials, and challenges of different types of technologies already and prospectively applied in care. The focus of this study lies in the knowledge about, access to, and use of exemplary technologies, as well as attitudes towards technologies in the four care functions physical support, social and emotional support, monitoring, and documentation. The perspective of nursing staff contributes significantly to the understanding of digitalization in the entire field of care. They belong to the users of these innovations whilst simultaneously competing with these technologies in integral parts of their work. With this project, we promote the understanding of technology in care and provide a database for the German care system.
