Evaluation of an accompanying person concept in child and adolescent rehabilitation (EvaBePe)

When applying for rehabilitation through the German Pension Insurance, children up to the age of 12 have the right to be accompanied during medical rehabilitation if this is necessary for the success of the medical rehabilitation. And even beyond the age of 12, there is the possibility of accompaniment in medically justified cases.

The accompanying persons do not receive any medical treatment. However, they are actively involved in the children's rehabilitation and learn to apply what they have learned in medical rehabilitation in everyday life.

The aim of the project is to evaluate the concept of accompanying persons at the Edelsteinklinik and the Klinik Viktoriastift with regard to various aspects. In addition to the survey on satisfaction and acceptance and the study of effectiveness, this also includes the analysis of the programme with regard to its potential for improvement and its flexibility.

The evaluation of the accompanying person concept will be carried out in a mixed-methods approach using qualitative and quantitative surveys over a period of 30 months. Not only data of the escorts will be collected; also the staff members of the two clinics actively involved in the escort concept will be included in the evaluation.

Finally, recommendations for optimisation possibilities will be derived from the evaluation results, if necessary.
